Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano says the atmosphere around Manchester United has shifted meaningfully since the 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como, describing a dressing room mood that differs from previous setbacks under Michael Carrick.

Romano, addressing the situation on his YouTube channel, said he was recording at 2am in Italy specifically to convey the gravity of what he was hearing from inside the club. "The real difference between this game and the other games is also in the players," he said. "For the very first time we have players at Manchester United not so happy with the current situation."

A change from recent weeks

He went further, suggesting the unease now extends beyond the squad's frustration with results. "There is a feeling inside that not everyone is so happy with the current situation, and I'm also talking about the coach," Romano added, while cautioning: "We have to be very careful with the Manchester United situation, because now we enter into a different territory."

A familiar pattern

Romano noted that United have publicly backed Carrick for now — just as they did before sacking both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim in recent years. Nothing has been confirmed, and the club's official position has not changed, but the historical pattern is not lost on anyone currently watching Old Trafford.
