Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Harry Kane over a new contract that would run until 2029, with the final paperwork now the only step left before it is made official.

Kane's existing deal had been due to expire at the end of this season, a situation that had reportedly put several of Europe's leading clubs on alert, Barcelona among them. The extension, if finalised as expected, closes that window and ties Kane to Bavaria through what would be his age-35 season.

A season for the ages

The 33-year-old enters the final stretch of 2026 as one of the leading names in the conversation for the Ballon d'Or, having scored 73 goals for club and country across the 2025/26 campaign while helping England reach a World Cup semi-final and claiming a third consecutive Bundesliga Golden Boot.

  • Third straight Bundesliga Golden Boot
  • Reported new deal: through 2029
  • England's all-time leading scorer in major tournament knockout football this cycle

A case few can match

Should Kane win the Ballon d'Or this year, he would become the first Englishman to claim it since Michael Owen in 2001. His former Bayern colleague Anthony Barry, now part of the England coaching staff, has gone as far as rating him the best pure striker of the ball he has worked with — a list that, through Barry's time with Portugal, includes Cristiano Ronaldo.

The new contract also closes the door, for now, on any Tottenham fans still hoping for a sentimental return. Kane remains the club's all-time top scorer with over 400 appearances to his name, but his future, for at least the next three years, stays firmly in Munich.
